What happens to your words
Last updated October 29, 2026 · Español
The short version. You don’t need an account. Your question is sent to an AI service so it can write an answer. ElderChat does not keep what you type. The AI service and the computer that hosts this website keep some technical records for a limited time, explained below. We do not sell your information. What you type goes to OpenAI to write the answer, and the people who run the website’s server can read the technical records described below.
What you type
- It is sent to OpenAI, the company that provides the AI, so it can write an answer.
- OpenAI says it does not use information sent this way to train its models unless a customer chooses that, and we have not.
- OpenAI says it may keep these requests for up to 30 days to watch for misuse, and longer if the law requires. We cannot delete them sooner.
- Please don’t type passwords, card or bank numbers, or codes. If you do by mistake, tell your bank if it is an account number or code.
What ElderChat keeps
- A cost record for each answer: the time, the AI model, how much text was processed, and the cost. It does not contain your words, your name or your address.
- That record is included in our nightly backup, kept for 30 nights.
- No accounts, no cookies, no advertising and no tracking tools.
What the website’s computer keeps
- The computer that serves this website keeps a log for the whole server, which also serves other sites. Each line has your internet address (IP address), the time, the page requested, and your browser type. It does not contain what you typed.
- Those logs are kept for weeks, for up to about three months, and only the people who run the server can read them.
If you use voice
- The “Talk to us” button uses your browser’s speech service. Your browser may send your voice to that service, which is run by the browser’s maker, not by us.
- The “Read the last answer to me” button uses your device or browser to speak. Some browsers use an online voice service for this.
- You can always type instead.
On your own device
- The text size you choose is remembered in your browser on this device only.
- On a shared or library computer, close the browser window when you finish. Your question stays on the screen until you do.
What we will not do
- Sell or rent your information.
- Show your conversations to partners, banks, advertisers or family members.
- Ask you for money, or ask you to give personal details to get help.
Limits
- ElderChat is an AI helper. It can make mistakes, and it is not legal, medical or financial advice.
- It cannot see your accounts, make calls or send messages for you.
- If you are in danger, call 911. If you have lost money, call your bank or card company first, using the number on your card.
